Visiting H.P. Lovecraft

Howard Philip Lovecraft was an American author widely considered the godfather of the horror genre, and is best known for writing the Necronomicon and creating the Cthtulhu Mythos. As with many authors, he did not receive great recognition and accolades until after his passing. Lovecraft is also notable for being a prime influence on Stephen King, contemporary horror's most notable author. His grave marker is a very nondescript stone featuring his birth and death dates and inscribed with the phrase I AM PROVIDENCE

H.P. Lovecraft - Plot: Group 281 Lot 5

Lovecraft is buried in Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence, R.I. He, along with his parents, are in the plot belonging to his maternal grandfather, Whipple Van Buren Phillips.
